It's over.....

The adventure has come to an end.

After doing the "Carlton dance" and reviewing last weeks recap, my thoughts about this experience are still the same.

I really enjoyed the part on the Copyright licence. This training made me more comfortable in how to select  images for library purposes.

Creative Commons and Wordle will be added to my go-to list for the preparation of promotional tools for the library.

Frustration levels were at high levels, when the computer would not do certain steps... In need of software updates!

The most obvious observation of all throught this adventure is....

I'm not a born blogger!!!!

The adventure is over.....Reflection

The adventure is over and here is an overview of this experience:

·         What was your favourite Thing and most useful Thing?
I got the chance to really understand the importance of the Copyright licences.  Creative Commons and Wordle.net were my favorite part of this learning adventure.

·         What were you surprised to discover?
Surprised, maybe not, but my computer needs software updates!  So there were moments of frustration!!
;-)

·         How will you use the Things in your work or personal life?
I did learn new tools to use on a day-to-day basis. Anything to do with Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Pinterest.

·         How did you feel after completing the 23NB program?
Happy! I found it hard, to find the time to to it.

·         What did you learn about yourself?
That I'm not a born blogger.

:-)

The adventure continues......I can see a light at the end of the tunnel!

The adventure is almost coming to an end.

This time around we are asked to download Overdrive Media Console on a device, which I have done a long time ago when I purchased my iPhone and iPad.

One of the first thing I had done after downloading Overdrive to my iPad was to borrowed books from NBPLS electronic library. Now, I was in heaven!!!!  I had a choice of books from the library, my Kobo account, my iBook account and my Sony eReader account.

On my phone I have added the BiblioNB app. This is so great when purchasing books for the library...No more calling the library to see if we have a copy of a certain book....I just scan a book and see if we have it or not.  Heaven!!!

Stay tuned.....

The adventure continues....Sharing

As you can see, the adventure in 23 Things NB continues and so has my knowledge of curation tools.

To start off, I joined Scoop.it and browsed the various topics and stumbled upon an interesting article from the BBC.

The title - BBC believe you only read 6 out of 100 books from their list of "must read".  Well I certainly tried their survey and found out that I have read 14 out their 100 must read books.  Oops! I guess I have some reading to catch up on.

I found this really fun so I shared it on Twitter.  I hope my followers will try the survey.

Stay tuned....

The Adventure Continues...

Mr. Rogers is cool!! Our beloved childhood hero is still relevant in this day and age....Just check out Mr. Rogers doing his thing. He 'da man!!! :-)

The following link is to a presentation of Raghava KK's children’s book for iPad. His book has a special and fun feature: when you shake it, the story's perspective changes and thus changes our perspective of the story. Maybe if we can have this feature on our person, maybe the world would be more at peace.

Images Part 2

Well this one has to do with Pinterest. Yes!  The most addicting site EVER!!!

This was so fun to do, since I've already had a personal and work account this was a breeze.  However, I did learn how to add the "Pin It" button to the web browser.   Can't wait to get home and add the "Pin It" button on my laptop's web browser.

I have created boards and have been following a few pinners.  This site is so great to get great ideas for a multitude of stuff.

I have to go and find a craft idea for Story Hour........Stay tuned......

The Adventure continues.....

This part of the exercise is focus on Images & Copyright

This is certainly the part I REALLY enjoyed!  I find that the subject of images and copyright is such a mystery.  I found that this exercise has helped me understand and feel much more comfortable in choosing the right image from the internet and know how to source it back to its owner.

I also learned how to create a Word Cloud by using Wordle.net.  This can be such a great tool to use in a library setting for creating posters for activities, programs….Again, feeling frustrated that I can't upload my Word Cloud.  Ah! C'est la vie..... So here is the link.
